The Texas OER Summit brought together academic librarians, faculty, and administrators with an interest in Open Educational Resources to a strategic planning summit to consider OER at a statewide level. The event was hosted by University of Texas at San Antonio November 15-16, 2018, and was organized by Texas Digital Library and theTexas State Library and Archives Commission.

The Texas Statewide OER Coordinating Committee, a successor of the Texas Statewide OER Summit Planning Committee, developed a handout for use in Legislator education on Open Educational Resources during the 86th Legislative term. The handout was included in TLA Legislative Day 2019, an opportunity during the 2019 Texas Library Association Conference to educate librarians and library staff on relevant legislative issues and methods for appropriate advocacy.
