Item Hi DSpace, nice to meet you. I'm Pressbooks.(Texas Digital Library, 2023-05-18) Johnson, Emily; Ivie, DeeAnnIn the past 2 years The University of Texas at San Antonio launched instances of Pressbooks and DSpace to the university community. As the OER and Scholarly Communication Librarians, we were interested in learning more about best practices and workflows at other universities for archiving OERs in institutional repositories. Afterwards, in conjunction with the Library Systems department, we developed a workflow for automatically pushing OERs created in Pressbooks into our DSpace repository using a SWORD protocol. This presentation will describe our findings from the background research we conducted, the process for linking Pressbooks and DSpace, and future work we will be doing in this area.Item Legislative OER Briefing(2019-04)The Texas Statewide OER Coordinating Committee, a successor of the Texas Statewide OER Summit Planning Committee, developed a handout for use in Legislator education on Open Educational Resources during the 86th Legislative term. The Fellowship supports faculty in using OER materials in their classes. Working with the Assessment Librarian and OER Librarian, we created a toolkit that uses assessment tools to measure the impact of free course materials. In the presentation, I will go over assessment and OER methodologies used in developing the toolkit and the possible impact of using an assessment toolkit. OER and assessment further equitable learning, which needs greater development in higher education institutions like UT Austin. Therefore, creating an OER Assessment Toolkit helps instructors comprehend the impact of implementing and promoting free course materials in their classes. The goal of the presentation; is to present about OER assessment characteristics, to teach about the toolkit's role in facilitating assessment for faculty and staff, and to show staff how using free resources like toolkits furthers equitable learning.Item Successful movements in higher education : lessons learned and applied to developmental education(2009-12) D'Orazio, Dana M.; Treisman, Uri; Osborne, CynthiaDevelopmental education is a vital component to the transition from secondary to post-secondary education and has been the subject of much discussion related to current challenges faced in the changing academic environment.
