Item A Fraternity House and Lodge for Pi Lambda Phi Texas Alpha Omega Chapter(Texas Tech University, 1972-12) Roberts, James RNot Available.Item Item Item A structural expression of space(Texas Tech University, 1991-05) Whaley, B. L.; Driskill, David A.To design a structural space which would be very flexible to either contain an Office Building, a Retail Complex, or a Housing Facility. This structures flexibility would be an exploration of different space analysis and circulation paths, be it vertical or horizontal. There would be permanent fixtures within the structure, which will need to be explored and examined. These fixtures would need to be considered in each of the design ideas of the structure. Mechanical structure and activities would also be a permanent fixture within this building. An expression of the mechanical hardware would be a high consideration of the structure, it would be a major consideration of the design. In this design the idea of being a giant warehouse to stick these facilities in, would basically be the idea to try to stay away from. This structure would need to be one to overcome the idea of just an open area, but one which could almost fit any where and be aesthically pleasing and also, functional. Within this project the "High Tech'' style would be incorporated into the design.Item An independent living center for severely disabled adults in Lubbock, Texas(Texas Tech University, 1993-05) Yu, Rudy Y.The number of people with disabling conditions is enormous and increasing each year. Yet housing which accommodates the needs of people with disabilities, and useful information has not been widely available To date, this information has been limited to a few special researchers and designers who have developed an expertise in this field. Architecture, is creating an environment for people and that means all "people" are not mearlv limited to the "able -bodied" but it is universal design for all people. A "home" for the disabled should be a healing and personal place of living, rather than a cold and sterile place like a typical public institution. I believe this can be achieve through its scale, proportion, order, color, material and even symbolism and metaphor.Item Item Architectural Program for the Texas Governor's Residence(Texas Tech University, 1981-05) Youngblood, Charles SNot Available.Item Architecture an integrated living and working facility: for the mentally and physically handicapped(Texas Tech University, 2000-05) Feist, TommyThe utilization of illumination and other spatial qualities can improve the mental health of mentally retarded and physically disabled people in living and working spaces? A variety of qualities, luminous and spatial are significant to help keep a work of architecture interesting and enjoyable as a place to live. Indirect light and soft light for the more personal areas are necessary for creating a comfortable and enjoyable space. Increased intensity of light in spaces are likely to signify a change in the type and purpose of the space. Spatial qualities are dependent on the type of lighting, materials, and volume (both dimensions and proportions) can provide a feeling of home which is important for the Mental Health and Mentally Retarded (MHMR). The selected context is in San Angelo, Texas a West Texas city of moderate density. The facility, being an assisted living and working center, will house living quarters. Entertainment areas, work environments, and other related areas for people who are mentally retarded and physically challenged. The facility will house about 20 people and encompass approximately 38,000 sq. ft.Item Concrete: Hill Country home(Texas Tech University, 1990-05) Spiva, ScottNature has thousands of elements that are essential in the success of its biological phenomenon, and human life plays just a small role. Each biological niche has many elements that work together, and each element has its own order of elements. Living off the sun's light and energy; breathing the earth's air; consuming natural resources of animal, vegetable, and mineral, is a biological phenomenon and provides a structure of our place in the phenomenon. All of the elements of architecture must work, as nature does, in a smooth flowing manner to create a workable used architecture that is an excellent example of design. Just as most buildings reflect nature, they must also respond to our phenomenon of human life and user needs. Architecture needs to be environmentally responsive to its local site, climate, and economy, and this responds through a reflection of nature. Natural lighting in a majority of interior spaces becomes important in design as a psychologically comforting element. Outdoor spaces should be an integral part of overall design and help bring together a design by making the outside bring about an intrigue to the interior. An observation of nature shows that the basis of life in each organism is its structuring elements, and thus, structure becomes a basis of design. Architecture is a participant in the human environment. When architecture is natural in its origin, it is environmentally responsive, for without a concern for the environment, the design's natural forms become hypocritical. Natural lighting, fresh air circulation, and natural materials are also of importance. Nature, in design, ties together the parts in a whole.Item First oil mill in Texas, High Hill, Texas: an adaptive use project to serve as a residence(Texas Tech University, 1977-12) Schrader, Bradley GeneNot availableItem Housing Development for Ceta Canyon, Texas(Texas Tech University, 1986-05) Griffin, Debbie RNot Available.Item Juxtaposing Architecture With Nature: An Artist in Residence in Ruidoso, New Mexico(Texas Tech University, 2005-05) Bradshaw, LandonCombining organic principles with Modern technology creates a symbiosis that juxtaposes architecture with nature, and defines the beginning of a unique identity. A place that alt6ws artists to dwell, create and display their work, and to inspire their creativity n harmony with nature. In New Mexico, lies a small town that captures the hearts of many: Ruidoso. Set in the southern mountains of the state, Ruidoso provides a natural environment that is full of wonder.Item Nuestra senora de de la encina: a low rise medium density urban living environment(Texas Tech University, 1987-08) Rama, Romulo ENoneItem Solar energy residence for Lake Ransom Canyon(Texas Tech University, 1977-08) Garcia, Eduardo FNot availableItem The contemporary house(Texas Tech University, 1970-12) Moffat, Keith S.The purpose of this writing is two-fold. The first is to explore the idea of home. What is it, and how has man come to use it in terms of his culture, as a shelter. The second is a concerted effort to educate a client in the area of reasoning behind the motives of the built form. This is not an attempt to "tell the client what he wants" but rather to explain the reasoning behind certain motives; such as, privacy, conveniences, and environment, in order that he may see and fully understand all of the possibilities available to him.Item The program for a geodome, a residence and studio(Texas Tech University, 1970-12) Lown, David JNot availableItem Written thesis for a new governor's mansion for the state of Texas, Austin, Texas(Texas Tech University, 1973-12) Tonroy, BartNot available
