Abstract
Previous research in self theory indicates disagreement on the validity of self-ideal discrepancy as an indication of maladjustment. There is also confusion regarding the self-ideal discrepancy profiles foujid among individuals with different psychiatric diagnoses. In the present thesis an attempt was made to clarify these two areas of conflict by examining the self structures of normal, neurotic, and psychotic individuals.
