In the summer of 1949, collections were made at two fusuline-bearing limestone out-crops (Locations A and B on map) in the vicinity of Las Vegas, San Miguel County, Hew Mexico. The sections at both locations were known to be in the Pennsylvanian system. The object of this study is to determine, more accurately, the stratigraphic position of these two locations. On the basis of fusulines recovered, both locations were determined to be equivalent to the upper Strawn of Texas or upper Des Moines series of Central United States. Location A (see map) is probably equivalent to the upper Millsap Lake of Texas. Although Location B is definitely equivalent to upper Strawn it is not certain that it is equivalent to the same horizon as location A.
