dc.description.abstract | This report describes farmworker wages since 1989 and assess what factors affect these wages. Two questions are answered: (1) What factors affect farmworker wage? (2) And what steps can the Department of Labor take to ensure equitable wages? The research found that several factors affect farmworker wages including gender, race, citizenship, legal exemptions, and the historical normalization of low wages paid on farms. The report concludes with recommendations for the Department of Labor on further research and policy solutions. | |
