dc.description.abstractMany university libraries, like Texas A&M University Libraries, have decentralized digital libraries which can often lead to difficulty in managing the planning, documentation, and workflows for projects. Texas A&M University Libraries has seen rapid and effective structuring to their workflows and processes this past year with the development of their new digital asset management ecosystem. To support the coordination of the digital library workflows, a new group, the Digital Project Management Team was created. It includes members from several units including Scholarly Communications, Metadata Management, Preservation, Digital Initiatives, and User Services. The collaboration of these units has created a new dynamic and has created greater communication and movement in digital projects. The speakers on this panel not only represent the Digital Project Management Team but each team member is also on at least one other key group within the digital libraries ecosystem. This cross-collaborative model has allowed for more understanding and a greater strategic vision for how to manage projects. The panelists will describe the project management process that the team has built in order to ensure that quality content is added to the digital library using streamlined practices. They will discuss project management tools and procedures which have allowed the teams to manage multiple projects at a time. The panelists will also discuss the process in which they now review legacy projects, manage on-going projects, add new content, and engage with subject specialists and curators for creating digital collections. Though the Texas A&M University Libraries has a robust team of supportive personnel and expertise, the procedures and approaches that have been developed could be scaled to work for any size institution.en_US
