It is the goal of this thesis to not simply be an academic exercise, but to provide direction for preservation activities at the depot, especially in aiding Historic Orient-Santa Fe Inc. to achieve a complete and accurate restortation of the depot. A further goal is to serve as a catalyst for the continued development of an interest in preservation by the citizens of San Angelo, as well as a catalyst and guide for depot preservation in Texas and across the nation. As young man growing up in San Angelo, I took a lot and gained a lot from that environment and now it is my turn to give something back. Let us not forget also, that one part of the goals of a university is public service; in a measure this thesis is directed to that goal.
