Performance testing is frequently neglected by the engineers during the development phase. The traditional approach of performance evaluation as an afterthought has resulted in severe delays and in loss of productivity. The commercially available testers are generic in nature and do not adapt well to the ever- changing requirements during the early phases of software development lifecycle. This research proposes a new modular approach to performance testing. In addition it also examines the feasibility of development-time performance testing in large scale enterprise applications. The architecture is simple, scalable and based on the first principles of object-oriented programming. The choice of Java as the programming language makes the framework flexible, maintainable and platform independent. The tester performed at 98 percent accuracy under test scenarios.
