dc.description.abstract | This thesis presents a numerical scheme and error analysis for the determination of surface temperature at one end of a finite rod from a finite number of temperature readings at a point interior to the rod. Although this problem is ill-posed in the sense of Hadamard, the approximation obtained is shown to vary continuously with the approximate data. Examples of applying this method are also given in the thesis. | |
