Emergency and disaster preparedness plans are an essential requirement for most organizations today due to the frequency and complexity of incidents such as disease outbreaks, natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, fires and earthquakes and even terrorist attacks. Despite the detailed planning that goes into these programs, all too often, the physical and mental fitness of the individuals assigned to respond in case of emergency is an afterthought. This project reviews the literature with regard to essential/emergency personnel fitness and worksite fitness interventions.en_US
