Through the study of French, Canadian and African female writers from the XXth century, we have developped the topic of women and knowledge. French and African female characters tend to be the heroins of the story and this fact led us to observe the evolution and the construction of their identities thanks to the knowledge they acquired. Female characters from Quebec are different because they exist to influence the male protagonist's life, but once again, they are able to do it with a knowledge based on experience.
