Abstract

The goal of this thesis is to provide a set of planning and management strategies which outline the hydrologic changes caused from urbanization and address site specific measure to mitigate any negative impacts to the study area. This was accomplished by determining the baseline condition of lands surrounding Lake Worth, located west of downtown Fort Worth, Texas, using a Functional Landscape Classification System based on aerial photo interpretation and field surveys. An existing land use plan was then evaluated against the baseline condition to qualitatively determine impacts to the hydrology of the area. Planning strategies and guidelines for watershed urbanization, designed to mitigate negative impacts to hydrologic conditions, were selected for each parcel in the land use plan using a matrix analysis.
