Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine certain interseeding techniques which would increase the productivity of abandoned croplands or depleted ranges on the High Plains of Texas. Objectives of the study were: (1) to determine techniques of interseeding intermediate successional stages of High Plains rangeland with sideoats grama grass, Bouteloua curtipendula (Michx.) Torr.; (2) to study dates and depths of planting; and (3) to determine the effects of a commercial fertilizer and a dryland legume on seedling emergence and survival, competition from existing vegetation in the stands with the seeded plants, and herbage production in the seeded areas.
