Abstract

The Metadata & Cataloging Department at Texas A&M University is reviewing metadata workflows for digital projects at our institution. We are looking for ways to incorporate metadata creation and remediation as part of our ongoing daily activities of the department as opposed to looking at these activities as special one-off projects. The result was the creation of the Metadata and Repository Committee with a goal to develop and implement a metadata workflow that would take us from the inception of a project to completion, marking major milestones, and promoting and celebrating achievements and innovations within the department and throughout the library. This poster will cover our new workflow for the creation and remediation of metadata from the initial gathering of information about a project, to determining the requirements for completion of the project.
