Item Mapping OER in Texas: Creating a Dashboard for Open Educators(Texas Digital Library, 2023-05-17) McNally Carter, Kate; Davis, SabrinaMany librarians across the state of Texas are supporting and leading open education initiatives. Wouldn’t it be helpful to have a shared resource where we could visualize the impact of our work and share our collective progress? In this idea lab, we present a concept for creating an OER map of Texas, which can serve as a dashboard for open educators to identify each other and the various OER initiatives and service models we offer. With this resource, open educators can form a stronger network, help grow each others’ programs, and support each other through various institutional barriers we face. Come join in the discussion to explore potential ways to approach this project, including potential benefits and opportunities for this resource to address institutional silos and connect open education advocates across the state, and also consider possible challenges for sustainability and hosting of the resource. We will present background on similar, larger-scale OER mapping and directory projects that have sunsetted, with the aim of leveraging the lessons learned to establish a valuable, practical resource that will serve the local needs of Texas educators. We are interested in ideas and collaborators to help us get off the ground and on the map!
