Stop by the TDL Imaging Group’s Birds-of-a-Feather Meeting. This group was formed to hash out problems, cultivate interest, and trade regional imaging knowledge in an inviting and inclusive setting. Attendees of this birds-of-a-feather will be able to discuss among peers their imaging specific issues and triumphs, including, but not limited to, how the field has coped and adapted during the pandemic.Item Session 1D | BOAF: Open Educational Resources (OER) Outreach(Texas Digital Library, 2021-05-24) Zerangue, Amanda; Fairweather-Leitch, Taylor; Louis, Lisa; Morrison, Ashley; Ivie, Dee AnnDespite the limitations placed upon outreach and programming due to the pandemic, libraries engaged in institutional-level outreach in support of OER, with success stories varying from grant workshops, faculty course redesign stipends, OER training in the context of the pandemic, and department-specific programming. In this Birds of a Feather, representatives from institutions across Texas will each briefly one successful OER outreach activity. Geared towards iSchool / LIS students though open to anyone, this informal roundtable discussion will center on lived experiences of librarians and archivists working in libraries. Presenters will share their experience interrogating the hierarchy, politics, and bureaucracy attendant to working in academic libraries and higher education. Our intention is to provide pathways for students and early career staff to become successful in the field of librarianship and archives while preserving their authentic selves.Item Session 3F | Geographic Information System (GIS) Birds of a Feather Session(Texas Digital Library, 2021-05-26) Shensky, MichaelThis birds of a feather session will provide an opportunity for TCDL attendees who share an interest in geographic information systems (GIS), geospatial data, and maps to come together to share ideas, discuss current trends, and identify opportunities for collaboration. It will be a great chance for attendees to engage in conversation regarding a number of different GIS related topics that are of relevance to the library community including development of geospatial research support services, sharing of geospatial data from library collections, and organization of GIS training opportunities.
