By discussing the design of the application, the promotion of its use both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the outcomes of community use of the app, this presentations hopes to provide a model for other institutions creating and managing their own participatory digital archives.Item Session 3D | Training from a Safe Distance: Leaning in Virtual Training in Digitization(Texas Digital Library, 2021-05-26) Kellum, ChristinaDiscussing the methods and tools used when virtually training imaging student employees at the University of North Texas Digital Projects lab. The virtual training approach was influenced by safety protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We utilized Microsoft Teams, Zoom, an internal wiki, and reserving private rooms. There will be a breakdown of what worked and when some unanticipated issues arose. By thinking outside traditional training methods and leaning into virtual training, we hope to offer tangible suggestions to training student employees that others can implement in their own training workflows moving forward.
