Item Image-based rendering using a stereo image and interpolation through a modified ray tracer(Texas Tech University, 2004-08) Wagner, Gregory M.Layered depth images (LDl) is an image-based rendering method that requires a knowledge of the depth of a pixel in an image, but until recently, computer generated images have been used. Real images were generally not used because it was difficult to find the depth of a pixel in an image, but, now, with the advances of stereo photography, accurate depth values have been found for real images. This has allowed image-based rendering algorithms to be tried with real images This thesis describes a layered depth image algorithm that uses a modified ray tracer with an analysis of the resulting images created by the algorithm.
