Abstract

Satisfy your curiosity about how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are used by libraries across the state. In this session, you will hear from four librarians who work at different institutions and apply GIS in their work using a variety of methods. Each panelist will showcase an exciting GIS project, highlighting the project’s processes, challenges, and benefits. These projects range from online and interactive maps exploring Texas’ history, to incorporating machine learning to automate the processing of print map collections, to a Story Map charting international video game origins. We hope this session will spark your interest in GIS and mapping to inspire you to find new ways of leveraging these resources in your own library or research. There is something here for everyone, novice and expert alike. Join us and discover more about what GIS can do!
