Military wives: a study in adjustment to the military

Wrapped in secret rites and mysterious rituals,the military is a social organization surrounded by stereotypes and myths. "Everybody knows" about military life, yet this curtain of misinformation has impeded any in-depth investigation by social scientists into the intricacies of life within the military. Sociological research conducted in this area has been obscured by "conventional wisdom" about military life.
