dc.description.abstractThis chapter provides an overview of the concept, methods and results of the various optimization techniques. Optimization is aimed towards maximizing or minimizing a measure of quality which is called the objective function. The objective function value is dependent on the values chosen for the decision variables and optimization seeks to find the values of the decision variables which result in the best (maximum or minimum) value for the objective function.
