Abstract

In this session, the panelists aim to provide stimulating conversation about current metadata practices, challenges, and workflows at various Texas institutions. Panelists will compare and contrast metadata workflows at our different institutions, explore how to conduct metadata outreach to other areas of our libraries (how to present what we do and why it is important to the success of a digital library), and share lessons learned in our respective roles related to metadata, including best training methods and favorite metadata management tools. Current issues in metadata management will also be discussed, including, but not limited, to harmful language and content in collection records, automation of metadata processes or usage of AI, standards and documentation, and controlled vocabularies.
