Abstract

In spring 2021, the state-wide OER team of Oklahoma’s Council for Online Learning Excellence (COLE) launched Open Educational Resources: Basics and Beyond, a free, two-part, openly-licensed online course and accompanying book. With our PressbooksEDU and Moodle adaptation of the outstanding Texas Learn OER training published by DigiTex, all faculty, staff, and students across OK higher ed can access the free online course, consisting of two modules: a beginner OER 101 and an advanced OER: A Deeper Dive. Each section concludes with an online quiz which offers customized feedback and qualifies individuals to earn two digital badges from the Online Consortium of Oklahoma (OCO) upon successful completion. Participants in this interactive session will hear from our project collaborators, discover the developer and participant experiences of the Oklahoma adaptation of Texas Learn OER, and discuss how digital credentials can be used to increase community engagement with OER.
