dc.descriptionSpeaker(s): Ariana Santiago Open Educational Resources Coordinator, University of Houston Ariana Santiago is the Open Educational Resources Coordinator at the University of Houston Libraries. In this role, she leads the planning, implementation, and assessment of the UH OER Program, including the Alternative Textbook Incentive Program. Her interests include open education, undergraduate student success, and diversity, equity, and inclusion in libraries. Ariana earned an M.A. in Applied Learning and Instruction from the University of Central Florida and an M.A. in Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida. She is a 2018-19 graduate of the SPARC Open Education Leadership Program. Sam Burns Senior Information Technology Manager, University of Texas at Austin Sam Burns is the senior information technology manager at the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin. Sam has worked and researched in the areas of human-computer interaction, information systems, and usability studies for the last twenty years. dc.description.abstractThis workshop will share and discuss strategies for assessing an institutional OER program, drawing upon the strategies used at the University of Houston. The presenters will facilitate interactivity encouraging attendees to reflect on their personal and institutional OER goals to inform the selection of appropriate assessment methods. Attendees will gain an understanding of the variety of assessment strategies available for evaluating institutional OER programs, with considerations for local applications. This workshop will have relevant takeaways for those with a role or interest in OER grant or incentive programs, as well as course instructors with an interest in evaluating the impact and effectiveness of OER.en_US
