Camp Meyers Spring (41TE9): An investigation of a 19th century military outpost
Abstract
Situated in Terrell County, Texas, the historical site of Camp Meyers Spring (41TE9) represents a microcosm of 19th century Texas. Represented here is the growth of the U.S. military's expansion westward, the growth of the ranching industry and the expansion of railroads and settlements into the western frontier. The investigation of this site included an extensive pedestrian survey, mapping, artifact analysis, and literary and archival research.
