OneStop : a system for satellite coverage optimization for networks of groundstations
Abstract
OneStop: Network Enhanced Satellite Tracking & Optimization Program, or simply OneStop, is a software system for optimizing satellite pass coverages using a network of groundstations. It is currently in use at the UT Center for Space Research and will eventually be deployed in support of the FASTRAC student satellites. In this document, the motivations for developing such a system are discussed, and alternative systems are considered. A complete description of the various software components is given, along with detailed explanations of the system's architecture and configuration. A brief overview of relevant aspects of satellite dynamics is shown, and a detailed derivation of the optimization algorithm OneStop uses to solve conflicting pass scenarios is given. Finally, case studies are examined in which OneStop is applied to networks monitoring both Earth observation satellites and amateur satellites. OneStop is a powerful system that can enable beneficial collaborations between satellite groundstations around the world.
