Abstract
The purposes of this investigation were to: (1) study variation in twenty-two morphological characters of eleven selected samples from the Llano Estacado; (2) re-evaluate certain characters upon which three subspecies of Peromyscus maniculatus are based; (3) where possible correlate observed variations with the external environment; (4) discuss trends of variation in deer mice on the Llano Estacado and their biological importance; (5) derive, as a result, a better understanding of the variation of a wide ranging species.
