Abstract
The objective of this research work is to develop a goodness of control monitor which can analyze noisy signals that can not be analyzed deterministically. If the process were noiseless, then it would be fairly easy to deterministically identify the several situations that indicate ineffective control. However, noise on the measurement is, in most cases, inevitable and prevents a deterministic evaluation of control effectiveness. Further, the amplitude of the noise often changes, with time and with operating region; so, any practical method must be insensitive to both the noise amplitude and to changes in noise amplitude. This work tries to meet the above requirements.
