It is common in many areas of statistical analysis to encounter right-censored data. Right-censored data occurs when the actual data value is greater than the censored data value. This occurs in survival analysis, where the true survival time is not recorded due to the loss of the sampling unit: for example, a subject moves and is lost to the study, or dies from factors unrelated to the study. Research is now examining nonparametric results including the resulting quantile functions of right-censored data.
