Opening plenary session of the 2019 Texas Conference on Digital Libraries, Wednesday, May 22, 2019, 830-1015am: Lisa German, Dean of Libraries at the University of Houston and Chair of the Texas Digital Library Governing Board delivered a welcome address. Kristi Park, executive director of TDL delivered announcements. Sean Visintainer, Head of Special Collections at California State University - San Marcos and chair of the TDL Awards Committee co-presented the awards ceremony with Kristi Park. Clarke Iakovakis, Scholarly Services Librarian and Assistant Professor at Oklahoma State University and chair of the TCDL Planning Committee, introduced the keynote speaker, Dr. Siva Vaidhyanathan. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Siva Vaidhyanathan, author of Antisocial Media: How Facebook Disconnects Us and Undermines Democracy (Oxford University Press, 2018), Intellectual Property: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2017), and The Googlization of Everything — and Why We Should Worry (University of California Press, 2011).
