    Abstract
The primary objectives of this study were (a) to determine the mineralogy of a selected playa soil and its underlying sediments and (b) to determine the relationship of the sediments to the associated upland soils. The mineralogical and chemical data obtained may prove valuable in determining the use of playa lakes for aquifer recharge purposes, water storage basins, and as catchment basins for various effluents.
