Abstract

It is the feeling of the present author, however, that propositionality and its effect of increase in stuttering behavior is a function of context as well as of specific word factors and that context, as a result, is a significant variable in stuttering behavior.

In the opinion of this author, the effect of context is based on the factor of emotionality. For that reason, the present study was undertaken in order to measure the relative frequency of stuttering on constant words in situations characterized by varying amounts of emotionality.
