Abstract

This research examined two different testing procedures for measuring the electromagnetic interference in a communication receiver in a motor vehicle. The procedures were analyzed, compared, and their differences were examined. The research found that by modifying one of the test procedures, the agreement between the two tests improved.

The research also revealed the usefulness of an average detector in the estimation of one noise in the presence of other noises. This led to development of a prototype of an auxiliary testing procedure. The auxiliary testing procedure takes advantage of the reduction in ambient noise level. This prototype gave good results when tested in both laboratory and practical vehicle tests.
