The effect of phases of the menstrual cycle on frontal plane knee kinematics during landing
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of phases of the menstrual cycle on frontal plane knee kinematics. If changes in dynamic knee valgus were observed during certain phases of the menstrual cycle, due to the effects of hormonal fluctuations on ligament tissue and neuromuscular control patterns, then it could be hypothesized that these factors may influence the rates of knee injuries in active populations.
