Abstract
Unity with the natural surroundings can be achieved by responding to the site through an honest expression of native materials. This program is to set forth guidelines for the design of a private conference center. It will be built to serve the needs of businesses and professional not only from central Texas, but across the country. It will be designed to accommodate a wide variety of groups and organizations, with a variety of spatial needs. The facility will be constructed on approximately thirteen acres of undeveloped land on Mopac expressway, just south of Barton Creek, behind the E.C. Gaines office building in Austin, Texas. The deep canyons bordering the center on three sides serve as a barrier and effectively isolate it from the surrounding city.
